The Vincent Rutherford Equality March is on Sunday, June 7th. My family will be marching in the parade and throwing out candy and stickers.
The green candy is Pandan flavor, a popular flavor in south-east Asia.
Alabama isn’t known as being the most lgbt friendly place, but its important to note how far we have come and the rights we enjoy in Alabama that most people around the world don’t have. In my wife’s country, pride parades are illegal, along with any depiction of pride symbolism such as rainbow flags. Stores have been raiding by the government for selling pride merchandise.
Pride parades are among the largest celebrations displaying the freedoms we have in America. We celebrate because 100s of millions of people around the world can’t. To celebrate pride is to celebrate what makes Huntsville a great place to live.
